2010 Update to Rules coming...

Here's the 2008 rules (these will probably change):

Dear Keene Karaoke IDOL Contestants,

We are looking forward to our most challenging season in four years! Your talent will provide for an outstanding competition and show.

Once again the show will be broadcast on community access channel 8, Cheshire TV! Each elimination round will be taped and then subsequently air the following week.

Songs may not be performed more than once throughout the competition. Judging categories include: Stage Presence, Voice Quality, Degree of Difficulty, Interpretation, Song Choice and Showmanship. To maintain judging integrity, please do not engage Judges in private conversation during the event.

Week #1: July 11 – 25 Contestants must sing one song of their choice.

Week #2: July 18 – 20 Contestants must sing a song of their choice from the 80s.

Week #3: July 25 – 15 Contestants must sing one song of their choice, and spin the Extreme Karaoke Wheel for their second song. How does Extreme Karaoke work? Each judge’s name will appear on the wheel, along with a Wild Card category and a U-Choose category.

Steve, Ted and Shana will each have prepared a song list of 10 songs.

This list will be distributed in advance. Choices are meant to challenge, not stump, participants. Songs will be chosen by judges according to gender of the performer, so that women aren’t asked to sing a men’s song and vice versa… unless YOU decide otherwise!

If the spinner lands on a judge’s name, then the judge gets to choose the song that the contestant must sing.

Wild Card #1: The contestant gets to choose which judge will assign their song.

U-Choose: The contestant gets to choose their song from the list.

Week #4: August 1, FINALE – 10 Finalists will perform 2 songs.

The first selection must be a song from any Broadway show.

The second selection is a song of your choice.

The top 3 Winners and Audience Favorite Award Winner will be announced at the end of the evening!

If you have any follow-up questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 603.357.6855. Encourage your family and friends to reserve their tickets NOW since we expect a sell-out crowd each evening. A press release with all details is enclosed. Best of luck to each of you, and thanks for supporting the work of AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region.

Best Wishes,
Susan MacNeil, Executive Director
